| 190+ hours of gameplay in the EU server Posted: 29 Mar 2020 10:14 AM PDT I have decided to write a review on this game first to come back later on to check if when I get more experienced, I'll still have the same "issues", and secondly whether or not I'm alone in my thoughts. I believe I have a more objective POV since I participate in most of the activities surrounding the game and I am not in any guilds atm. These are all of course my opinions and don't necessarily reflect the opinions of others, especially the NA server players. I'm playing as a Scholar (cleric, I know, bad idea) on the EU server and here are some notes to consider before downloading the game: - The chat is almost always entirely in French or German, although English is -seemingly- spoken by the majority of players
- this causes issues because when there is a raid run the map names get confused because it's different in German; you get used to that aspect though, it's just frustrating when you're first trying to figure it out
- Most players are really rude
- There is a lack of game knowledge online, so you'll most likely learn most character-oriented knowledge by 50+12 dinosaurs passive-aggressively calling you out on your mistakes or you have to join a guild
- the passive-aggressive talk is quite vague, as in they'll call you a noob and that's that, you'll have to figure what you did wrong on your own which gets kind of frustrating
- you can try to ask them directly which I don't recommend for your own mental health
- I find this especially interesting since those dinosaurs haven't been playing for that long either since it's a fairly new game. There's just an unnecessary ego competition amongst them. I would much rather they help newer players just for the sake of the game staying live than them scaring most people off just because of how unbelievably egotistical they are. If you don't get new competition, the server dies; it has been so with every MMO and Astellia will not be an exception to that rule. Besides, why be scared to lose your throne if you're that good?
- The game is pretty laggy, especially during rush hours which is to be expected, but I'm having general difficulties with in-game connection nevertheless. This is unfortunate because the game is just stunningly beautiful; I've downloaded it because my computer has all the properties of their recommended system requirements, but I have to play at low quality all the time.
- There are a few "leading guilds" as it generally is in most games, but there is one specific one where all the players are just plain a*holes. I will not name it, but when you cross them you know you're going to get sh*t talked.
- The gem shop is just too expensive in my local currency; which the game is pricy to buy in itself
